Working Laws

There are laws that govern the way that a human is worked, but what of a working horse? Their health can suffer if they are overworked, or ill treated, not rested enough. But are there laws that state the hours that a horse can be used?

Wouldn't that be under the animal cruelty laws? I would think that there would be laws about working horses that would have to be abided. It would have to vary from horse to horse though as some (like the clydesdale) can do a lot more than others (like a thoroughbred).

I believe for some types of working horses there are laws (such as carriage horses) but for others like farm horses its more of a animal cruelty limit. Unfortunately these laws and restrictions are just as open to people reporting them and being checked without notice.

I have not seen any laws for work specific, unless the horses job is something in relation to the state or city work. I think farm horses would end up being harder to keep track of with all the land out there.
