When's a good time for a new horse?

I lost my guy four months ago to old age. I'd had him for fifteen years. I will always miss him but think I may be ready to find a new friend. I just feel like I'm cheating on him or something silly like that, just by thinking of getting a new horse. Any advice?

The only person who can know if you are ready or not is you yourself.

If you feel that you are ready to start moving on, get a new horse.

Should you be uncertain still, just wait a while longer until you can manage it.

The grieving process is multi stepped and can take 5 or more years to complete for some people. Maybe try leasing a horse for just a month and see how it goes before committing to a purchase?
