What do you prefer?
I was chatting with my aunt last night and we talked about our relatives who have passed away. My grandfather died of heart attack and nobody was prepared for it. After 20 years, my grandfather's brother died of old age and everyone expected it already so its not that hard anymore.
Now my question is which do you prefer to lose a love one, specifically our horses. Through accidents or diseases in which we are not prepared for the passing of our horse? Or through natural death of old age? I prefer the second one but I never wish it will happen. But I have to admit that it will com someday so I would like my horse to rest of old age. |

Not much difference to me, I guess
Either way, it would be very hard to deal with. I've never been sure of the benefits of knowing death was coming, even in people. Other than getting the finances together ahead, I really don't feel that you can ever prepare yourself. To me it would be the same with my horses. I really don't think I could ever resign myself to it by knowing ahead of time.

I think we all hope for old age, for both us and our horses. It means they lived a full life. I would hope my horse had a long, good life full of great food and neck scratches. Also, often a younger death can mean suffering, and that wouldn't be good either.
