Wellington, Florida Passes Helmet Law

Riders under the age of 16 in Wellington, Florida will now be required to wear a helmet. The law will apply while riding on public roads and trails and several other Florida towns apparently have similar laws. The child's parents will be held responsible, as will stables or riding instructors in charge of the child.

Good

I think that's a good idea. More localities should pass this type of law to protect children. I've seen some tiny children on large horses. They may know how to ride but if ever thrown, that can be a long way down and an awful powerful impact.

Good law

I've often wondered why there is a helmet law for bicycling children here but not one for equestrian kids. Although, I suppose it wouldn't matter that much considering the bike helmet law is not very well enforced.

Excellent, I could not support this law more. Too few parents/people have the common sense required to see to it that they and their children are protected, so at least the law now does.
