Vision Problems
There are so many things that can go wrong with a human's eyes-and we can have problems with long or short sightedness as well as others that rob us of perfect sight. Are horses known to suffer anything like this?

All animals tend to have vision problems as they age based on changes in the eyes including dogs and people. I'm not sure about being near or far sighted (except the police horse on Dr. Dolittle he made glasses for) but I suppose it is possible.

The only other animal I'd seen like that was Ella, the lioness with glasses in Born Free. I am not sure that most animals would tolerate vision corrections like she did.
Most animals would cope with vision issues ok-I mean it's not like they have to sit and read a computer screen all day. I would guess they would be mildly disadvantaged, and if the problem was bad enough then they couldn't hunt effectively. |

I've seen blind dogs
I think animals make up for vision deficits by the other senses developing, just like people often do. My uncle had a dog that was blind and if you didn't see his eyes, you would never know it. His eyes were all milky white. That dog must have had incredible hearing and smell because he still ran and played, just like a sighted dog.

Animals can also learn simply by location-they know where the fence is, where the chair is, and so they avoid them. But they are animals who are fed-having to hunt is another matter and I would think that animals that have to hunt for food wouldn't cope as well.
