Type of Grass to Grow

Is there a particular type of grass that makes a good graze for horses? That grows fast and well, lasts well in all seasons?

I'm not sure if there is any particular type of grass used for pasture space, other than general grasses. I know there are different types of hay they plant for different nutritional levels and such.

Never really thought of this before. I would think that it is most important that you consider your growing zone-the USDA zone that rates how hot the area you live in is. From that you can choose a grass that matches well the conditions it will be expected to grow in. From there you can narrow it down to fast growing grasses and so on.

So all types of grass, are they nutritionally equal? Or is there one that is better suited to horses? What about ones that might be bad for the horse?
