Thinking of fostering

I'm thinking of talking with the spca about fostering a horse or two. I have the room and know that foster homes for horses are much needed. Is there any downfall to doing this?

Many foster animals need more than just good food and a nice place to stay. They may have unique nutritional needs due to neglect, poor teeth or general old age. They may not be able to be turned out which means stall rest which can make them ill-tempered and be a pain to clean up after (not to mention the cost of bedding). They may not be the type of animals you can leave home all day without an issue, and you may need to be around for frequent vet checkups (even if the SPCA pays for them).

On the other hand you may get incredibly easy to keep animals with perfect manners who just ended up in bad homes. Its hard to tell what you'll get. Be honest about your abilities and what you are comfortable taking care of.
