Sugar treats

I know of cases where people give sugar treats to their horses. Is this good for them - the horses I mean?

Its no worse than giving a kid candy, and at least it has no artificial colors or flavors. Obviously this assumes you are feeding treats in moderation, a couple per day shouldn't be an issue.

I give the odd sugar cube to my horse. In moderation it;s fine. Horses love the sweetness and it's fun to make them happy. Just don't give them all the time.

We tried this once when my neice and nephew were over. The problem is they want to give her more and more. Now we stick to carrots and apples. They are not as bad and the kids still have just as much fun.

It's probably ok to give horses sugar treats now and then, but not frequently. We always used to take carrots and big spinach leaves out for our horses to snack on.

My horse loves apples and pears off of our trees. She will walk the fence line and peer through the living room window until I go give her a treat.
