Sudden Loss

A friend of ours has experienced the sudden death of her horse, most unexpectedly. At this point in time she doesn't even know why the horse died, just that the stable hand went in one morning to find she had expired.

Do they investigate deaths like this? I would be concerned that the stable was in some way negligent, but then I have always been suspicious.

Aw, that's so sad. I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. I think in most cases, if the owner wants it, a vet will preform an autopsy. I don't think it's investigated criminally unless it is not the first incident or there is evidence to suggest mistreatment.

I would imagine the same as frannie with the investigation. I'm not sure how much an autopsy costs, but since horses are bigger I suspect it might cost more. Does she have reason to suspect they were neglectful or harmed her horse?
