Pasture Maintenence

Now is a great time to go through your pasture to get rid of weeds, toxic plants, etc before the grass starts to get too tall to effectively get around. Its also not a bad idea to take a metal detector if you have one handy and see if there's anything lurking that could be dangerous.

Yep. Metal detectors and a garbage bag. I don't bother with weeds, just look for the harmful ones. For me it's garbage that accumulates over the winter.

Excellent reminder. I'm always amazed at the amount of junk that can turn up after a few months, and yup, some of it's scary! I'd hate to have a sharp piece of metal lying there unnoticed, waiting to cause an injury.

A timely reminder and good advice. Hard work but necessary. My neighbour is bringing in a casual labourer to knock it off and I guess I'll just walk around and check to see that he does a good job. Good exercise for me.

I agree that the metal detector is an excellent idea. We'll be doing this, this weekend at my sister's house-I never fail to be surprised at what you can find there.

I used a metal detector and found stuff that could have been dangerous should my horse decide to trot over that area. Found quite a few coins too.

I decided to follow Purples advice and I borrowed a metal detector from a friend of mine. Am I glad I did I found some shrapnel that I would have missed
