My daughter the horse lover

My daughter is eleven years old. She has, as long as I can remember, loved horses. She has horse pictures on her walls, a horse quilt, horse computer games, toy horses. Everything about her is horses. She has what seems like hundreds of horse books. She loves to ride, as rare as that is right now.

This summer I hope to buy her a horse of her own. I just know her reaction will be a picture perfect moment. I want her to have the chance to have a horse since I never had that opportunity. I want her love for horses to be more than just a dream.

That sounds like a lovely gift. I remember people telling me when I was younger I could get a pony but it never happened. I am still waiting, maybe for a good 30th bday gift to myself! What type are you looking to get her?

Hello Alexis!

My horse war a bithday-present as well. Fram myself to my 30th birtday. Now, I`m getting 41 soon and I don`t regret that best present of my life.
When I bought "Gipsy", my daughter was 1 jear old. "Gipsy was 2 at that moment. They are like "brother and sister" and now, I must ask her, if I`m allowed to ride "her horse".

Here they are.

I want to get her a paint. She wants a dapple grey quarter horse. It all depends on what I can find. I'm not too concerned as long as it's gentle and good with kids. I plan on having the horse for it's whole life so I want to be sure.

Gipsy is such a beautiful horse. I grew up with horses, but we moved to a different town when I was about 14 and had to sell our three horses. I plan on getting another one in the next year when we have bought a bigger farm and can have plenty of room for one. I want my kids to have the same love for horses that I had at their age.

Your daughter sounds like me when I was growing up. We lived in town and I never was able to have my own horse. I would go to my uncle's every summer and help on his dude ranch. That was always lots of fun.

It seems like horses are in tune with so many things and it would have been great to have a horse at such a young age. More than just a domesticated animal you could learn to take care of.

That's nice, Sallyanna

You said she loves to ride so does she take riding lessons or something? Or do you have friends/family where she has had a chance to get some riding in? If you are not right in the city, perhaps you could help her get a part-time job helping at a stable or something so she gets to know the care needed before you actually go out and buy one.
