How much time do you spend getting ready for shows, I don't just mean the day of the show, but is it weeks or months? I have yet to be able to see one in person, but I am quite interested in learning what all goes on for this setup.

It depends on what you qualify as "getting ready" for a show. I consider everything from lessons and practice to cleaning tack getting ready, so I'd say I spend from the minute I get home from the previous show till the next one getting ready. The week before I have double lessons to work on things I missed the last time. I memorize tests everywhere I go. I've even been known to "ride the test" without my horse in the ring. The there is the time pulling manes, trimming, ironing clothes, etc.
