Mental Benefits

Life can be difficult, and the world can be a trying place. Despite all the stress, despite all the trauma, despite all the bad news in the paper and on TV, I know that out back, in the stable is a place of peace and serenity.

Ownership of an animal - any animal, but horses in particular - is good for the soul. Beyond any connection, taking care of something so dependent on you - the responsibility involved, the compassion it requires... I feel it makes me a better person.

What about you? Has horse ownership made you a better person?

I agree whole heartedly that horses are the best of all for the spirit. They are hugely intelligent, and they are very good at tuning into our emotions. I think that is part of the reason that they are so soothing.

I don't yet own my own horse, just looking at buying and want to know everything about them so i can treat it right when I get it.

However I go see my friends horse often, I always feel like a much better person for some reason. The horse makes me feel so calm and for days after I want to be kind to everyone because of it

Just being around horses-yes it can do wonders for one's spirits. Takes you away from the worries of the world and can even make physical ailments better for a short time.

I don't think I have ever been without an animal in my entire life. It can truly help more than most people thing. And when I think of the really stuffy people, they either don't have pets or don't appreciate them.
