Meds

I have thought about this for abit now. My daughter is at the stage being between infant/toddler that she takes baby meds that are liquid. So heres my question - do horses do the same, if its something that you can give them at home w/o a vet, or are all horse meds done via shots or tablets?

I have given mine both Anti-Diarrheal Medications and Respiratory Products. With the RP's they come in powder form, so you can mix with water. Other types of med's you are able to mix with their feed. I have never been brave enough to give a horse a shot though. Hope that helps.

You can get quite a few products that come as a paste, things like wormers which you don't need a vet to prescribe. There are also powders and ointments for some things.

Horses don't have the same issues as baby humans as they mature much faster as far as their eating and swallowing is concerned. They wean to solids earlier than humans and are onto a more adult feeding more directly, without all the in betweens that humans need.
