Massage Therapy For Horses

Have you ever paid for a horse massage or would you? I have a friend who just graduated with a degree in massage therapy. Part of the instruction included animal massage. They went to a local stable and practiced on horses in the stable area. Personally I can't afford a massage for myself let alone my horse, dog or any other animal.

That's a nice idea-alternative medicine for horses! I enjoy massages myself when I have pains that aren't relieved by meds, so I am sure that the horses appreciate it.

I've gone to clinics for equine massage therapy. I was never interested enough to try and get licensed, but I know more then enough to help out a horse after a long ide or giving birth or what not. It can really help many horse problems you would never think of.

This does sound like something that would be very comforting and soothing for a horse. I think it would be especially helpful for older horses who may be dealing with arthritis. However, I'm sure it would be more expensive than I would be able to afford.

I never have before but thinking about it now I just might. There are some things that are similar between human and animal and this doesnt seem all that different to me really.

I know my horse would enjoy a good massage although I'm not sure I could afford one. I know he enjoys a good rub down with just a dry rag when he's had a hard workout.

An option

My daughter who is working on her equine science degree had actually looked into horse massage therapy at one point, as an option - or a specialization - I'm not actually sure which direction she went with that, but I know she had watched a 'horse masseuse' and was given the opportunity to try it. She said it did seem very soothing for the horses.
