July 4th

While its still a good bit away we have decided to do a family picnic in the back woods with some family then go away for Sat/Sun to a local inn that does trial horse rides for our kids. They are still pretty young but we don't have room right now for our own so I think this will be a good experience for them both.

We don't have big plans this year at all. We'll head into town and spend the day at the jubilee, checking out the market stalls, craft vendors, and then the shows that are on in the afternoon. We'll eat junk, and wait for the fireworks to start.

I think we are headed over to some friends house on the lake. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I stayed up to watch fireworks, but this year we are definitely going to do it!

I'm going to a pig roast

I was invited to a friend's pig roast - will be a weekend long party, basically. It's close enough for me to check on and take care of the horses and other animals and still enjoy the weekend with friends. They're right on a lake, too, so we'll be doing some boating and stuff. If it's warm enough, we'll be hitting the water for some swimming, too.

I don't think we are going to be doing anything all that special.

Maybe we will have a BBQ, maybe we will just have a regular dinner.

Whatever it is we do, I hope it goes well.

July 4th and New Years aren't what they used to be anymore

When you dont live in a place that has good firework displays, you make your own! We have been doing that for many years now and its just bunches of fun. I have seen one person on two seperate years manage to almost catch himself on fire, while no harm is done its a running joke to call him firefly.
