Jewel

Jewel was my starter horse. She was the first horse I first sat on and the first horse I ever learned to ride. She was calm and gentle. She always held her head high and seemed proud to have the privilege of carrying me. She was a brown Appaloosa with a white and brown spotted blanket.

You sound like you loved her very much and I am sorry to hear that she has passed onto the Rainbow Bridge. How old were you when you first met Jewel?

I was about 10 years old the first time Jewel and I met. My uncle in Ohio owned a farm and had about three horses and a small herd of cattle. We lived about three hours away in Indiana and visited often.

Even if many of us have had or been around horses as a child its good to know we remember them this well. I know some people still as adults now that have never had any pets before.
