Another thread on here asking about artificial insemination sparked me that we have no information on how to breed a horse. I found some quick and easy to follow instructions online.

Just reading through this, it almost seems easier than human breeding (for that almost perfect end product), as long as you take into consideration all the time spent prepping - maybe if we did that more with the human race, we would have a happier world, who knows?

Read the article above. Great information for determining whether to breed your horse. I would recommend you research, research, research before sending your beloved friend to be bred. Some breeders will simply turn your mare out with a stallion. Can be very dangerous for both. Some breeders at as handlers when allowing the Stallion to "cover" the Mare. Also can be dangerous. Most professionals will use breeding stocks, have a well trained, well prepared stallion and a well trained well prepared Stallion handler, along with proper equipment. Always....Always...ASK..don't assume they no what they're doing.

I have read the article. It seems to me that breeding a horse is just like breeding any other animal. The first rule is to breed only the good ones. To make it short you should breed your best stallion with the best mare around.
