How Often do You Clean Your Tack?

I've got a stack of tack I took out of storage that needs cleaning and conditioning. I haven't cleaned tack in some time and had to go out and buy saddlesoap (which changed formulation apparently) but couldn't find neatsfoot oil at Walmart. I suppose if I were smart I would have conditioned it regularly and probably saved myself this hassle. How often do you clean your tack?

I have schedule for cleaning my equipments used for my horses, not just tacks. I love to see them clean. I normally clean them on the first weekend of every month. It does take a lot of my time but I'm just used to cleaning them every month.

I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I probably only clean my tack 2 times a year. I'm just forgetful of doing it. I don't know, I don't think it effects the longevity of the leather, at least I haven't noticed.

I do clean the bits regularly though.

I normally clean my tack once a month as well as before any long term storage (planned at least). Its the unplanned ones that get you. Suddenly you have furry bridles and tarnished bits and green girths (yuck). Fortunately a nice cleaning normally sets everything right.

I do little cleanings as needed, and give everything a really good cleaning quarterly. That's when I oil down all the leather and everything. I just remember at the change of the seasons to do it.
