Frage How much for your horse?

From a previous thread about buying horses on craiglist, my curiosity arose as to approximately how much will a horse cost. How much would you as a seller sell your horse or how much will you pay for a horse. What do you look for when purchasing one?

Most of the horses I've worked with have been purchased for 1-5k. Most would be sold for double that as the barns I've been at mostly flipped such animals as beginner's mounts or show animals. With hay prices you could probably scoop up a decent horse for under a grand, and prices may go down further. It depends on what you are looking for.

I wouldn't pay much less than about $1500 as you can run the risk of getting a horse that may have issues. For a pleasure horse, I hope to pay between $1500 and $2000. What to look for is a good temperment, healthy and active, not lame or any other issues. If you have kids, make sure he's good with them too. I'll even be brining my dog to make sure the two are good together. You want to make sure you don't get one too old either. That's some of what I'll be looking for when I get my horse this summer (circumstances permitting).

Good to know. It's almost like anything else you purchase. You need quality and you basically get what you pay for. Hopefully your circumstances permit it sallyanna
