How Much Are They a Part of Your Life?

Assuming that you either keep your horses on land that you own that surrounds your home, or else you take complete responsibility for their care and upkeep at a stable, how much are they are part of your life? What I mean by this is, when you take a vacation, what do you do with your horse? Do you ever include them in plans, and take a vacation nearby where you can trailer them and set them to pasture nearby?

Or do you arrange their care instead?

I do care for my horse as she is just on our property and/or in the stable. But when we go on vacation or away for a weekend I take her over to my brother's house. He has a couple horses and plenty of room for another.
I would never leave my horse with someone I didn't know or trust.

I dont own my own horse but we do take care of a family members from time to time. The owners both run resturants and get sucked into working long shifts, so we are there as backup and dont mind a bit. I think if we went a month without seeing Cinni we would both freak out.

Ours lives on our property. When we go away we have the neighbor kid (well teenager who rides her regularily anyhow) to look after her. We have taken her camping though, and it was fun for all of us.

Horses are a very big part of my life, but I don't really take them for too many long hauls.

They stay on my property most of the time, and I sadly can't really take them with me on some of the vacations that I go on from time to time.

Even still, I spend more than enough time with them almost every day.

That's a wonderful thought, and a nice change from how disposable so many things in our life are. I only wish that more felt like you do.
