Horses that only eat hay

Do you feed your horses anything else other than hay? I read that those that eat only hay and no sweets, grow to be more obedient, is this true? Or what do sweets have to do with the behaivor of the horse?

Thats like saying if you only feed your child vegetables they will be a complete angel. Feeding just hay, depending on the quality and nutritional content may not be everything a horse needs nutritionally.

i was told once that the best thing you can feed horses is grass. It's when you run out of grass and start trying to feed concentrates to improve performance that trouble comes along if it's not managed carefully.

Got it. It makes sense maybe sweets just make a horse hyper like they do kids. So in a way I guess it would be good to just monitor their intake and not just feed them sweets, like you would a child.
