Horses in popular culture

Most of us should be well familar with the stories of horses such as Black Stallion, and Black Beauty etc.

So what is your favorite fictional horse?

For me, I would have to say (very cliche I know) Black Stallion. Not exactly sure why, but it's partly because I have been reading the books most of my life. So what about yourself?

I don't really know if you mean just in stories overall, but I think horses aren't used all as much as a focus really. Yes they are on farms and are in sporting events and such, but otherwords, they aren't really a focus - but that's just my opinion really. You can correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't recall the actual title, but there was a movie about a White Stallion that was used in show jumping that I adored when I was a youngster. Lightening maybe? He was owned by a rich guy who was in debt to the bad guys and a young girl falls for the horse and trains him to be a Show Jumper and competes in some big show with a big prize. And of course has a cute young man to help her. It had everything a teenager who is horse crazy could want in a movie.

For books I loved King of the Wind:The Story of the Godolphin Arabian by Marguerite Henry. Its such a cute story about such an important horse. And the illustrations just were the best. I have all of her books but that one was the best. I read it so much the cover is falling off.

Also, I forgot to mention Mr. Ed!

We all must have seen that show at some point. That old Black Stallion T.V show was pretty cool also, if anyone remembers that.

I like Spirit as my favorite fictional horse. It is because it was showed as an animation and the story was good. I think there is also truth in there on how they break a horse in old times, it sounds cruel but there is not animal rights in those times.
