Horses and phones

If you're handling a horse, do you have your mobile on or off? Would the noise frighten them or do they not seem to care very much?

Good question

Well, that's a good question - I know I have seen some horses startle at the slightest noise, while others don't even flinch ... I wonder if a cell phone set to vibrate would be better - or if even that odd buzzing sound would alarm a horse!

Maybe this is something that can be trained out of the horse. So many horses are used in terribly noisy situations-what about riot horses? So I think they could get used to them with enough exposure.

Even when the phones vibrate they still make a noise, so if it's the noise that's the problem wouldn't it still startle the horse? I'm just wondering if anybody has personal experience because so many people seem to live with their phones these days.
