I just got a new edition of the State Line Tack catalog in the mail yesterday after requesting one and was excited yet leery of all the pastel cheerful colored tack and clothing. I mean while its cute to have lilac breeches, a lilac saddle pad, lilac half chaps and lilac gloves to match the lilac polos your horse wears is it really feasible to buy and wear such stuff? Maybe I'm just getting old but I can't see alot of people being able to show with such bright colors unless its a fun show. And they must get dirty awful quick. At least with a white pad you can bleach it once a week and keep it reasonably bright. Anyone see people using this kind of stuff over the age of 18?

I think the only time I would go for something like that, is for my girl who is not old enough now to ride, but lets say she learns to ride from age 5 up, her senior pictures have her with the horse, then I think it would be okay. Otherwise I think its tacky, then again, maybe thats just me. Special occasions yes, all the time, no. :)

I have never shown my horse; but yes I could see me using it and buying it. I like to have a little colour in my life and let's face it-it's nothing more than accessorising in a different way.

For my daughter when she starts riding, I could really seeing me loving this. Her first tack being all pink would be cute!

I would have to admit to being guilty of this one. I adore the color purple and it looks good on Pumpkin. We tend to use it mostly for everyday riding around the barn to keep his stuff from being filched and used by other riders (most people stick to more normal colors like red/blue/green). But I have definitely used a few minimal placements of color when doing dressage shows. I have a white saddlepad with purple piping which is pretty sedate. I use the rest for parades and fun shows. We have all the things you mentioned plus a ribboned browband and lots of ribbon for his mane and tail. My dad likes to ask me when I'm going to get a mare and stop torturing my poor gelding.
