A very popular horse breed in Arizona is a Paso Fino. People like this breed because of it's smooth gait. On the trail they really walk out and are hard to keep up with using a Quarter Horse. Anybody a fan of Paso Finos?

Paso Finos are amazing to watch. The front legs are just moving out. Someone who has never seen the gait might not understand what they are watching. They are smooth and good for people with bad backs.

I have heard they are the Rolls Royce of horses. And on the bad back note, I think others knowing that may end up taking up horse back riding feeling better knowing that they can still do something that active even with a not so great back. I found a picture of one online and I really would love to have that horse, something about it just got to me. Ever have that happen, and from a picture none the less?

They are beautiful horses, but why are they good for people with bad backs? From the pictures I have seen, I don't see anything specific for them that would help, am I missing something here?
The smooth ride is what makes the paso so special. The weird swinging gait takes up all the bounce. You just sit in syle and glide along. It's like a more compact fine tuned version of a Tennessee Walker. No posting! Much less friction on the lower back.
