Have you ever ridden your horse in a Parade? It's one of the scariest things I've ever done. People shouting, kids crying, brats throwing stuff at you and your horse. Fire Engine sirens blaring. It's a recipe for disaster...but with the right horse it's a blast.

We had an old white large pony/small horse that we used for lessons with handicap kids. Buster was bomb proof...nothing ever spooked him. For a couple of years we would used washout green hair coloring put a big hat on him and rode him in the St Patrick Day Parade....then after the parade we'd let parents take pictures of their kids sitting on Buster. Buster was one of the kindest gentlest horses I've ever known.:)

Yup I did something similar one year. I got to ride the big black draft mix named, coincidentally, Shamrock in the St. Patty's day parade. We stenciled shamrocks on his butt and put green glitter on his hooves and green flowers in his mane and tail. We took pictures with kids and people, but the best one is of me surrounded by mounted police cause he looked just like their horses only greener. Its definitely a good experience for horses to get used to.
