If you purchase an older horse, do you think it is a good idea to RE-name it? Or should you keep the name that it already has? My kids have been choosing names for horses, yet I am concerned about that...if we decide to purchase or rescue an older horse...would the horse mind? LOL...I'm feeling really stupid at the moment on this. Thanks!

If the horse was trained to follow orders by calling its name then I guess you don't have to change the name. But if the horse can follow orders by other sound signals like clickers or clapping then you could change the name of the horse.

How long would a name change need to be before the horse will start to remember the new name? I know this goes with someone always saying the name, but what happened if a certain amount of time passes and the horse doesn't catch on, do you just go back to the original name?
