My best friend lost her little white Shetland pony named Lightning today. Lightning had been her first pony and was about 15 years old. All the kids in our school had ridden Lightning when we were in grade school. Lightning went to a lot of birthday parties. She loved being around the kids and we always made sure that all the parties served carrots (her favorite).

I know of a horse like that too (we called him blackie though), he wasn't even black which was funny but the owner was an old timer blacksmith and named him. He was the party horse too. Its always sad when you lose one, but knowing they had a good life helps.
