Hey gang, you can get to the Equine Image Gallery by clicking the link up in the navbar that says "Gallery" or by visiting this link: http://www.equineboard.com/gallery/

Enjoy

Great addition to the forum but is it not included in the main forum where we can talk about the pictures of horses? I saw the Gallery link at the top of the forum and its nice that is working already.

I wish I had my own horse in order for me to put the picture there. Looking forward for other members to post there horses' picture there.

just to understand, when you click on the gallery link you get a contact webmaster error or when you try to upload a picture you get an error?

I just uploaded my image to the gallery without an issue. I wasn't really sure which category to stick it in, but it uploaded without issue. Looks good.

That's agreat idea, KCMO :). There seem to be lots of newcomers to the horse world on this board and gosh, how many breeds we only know from pics but have never seen!

Sorry for the late reply, things have been nonstop lately for me. The gallery is great, I cant wait to go and check some of the beaut's out, I am still debating if I want to get a horse or not, I know it would not be for show - I don't have that much time right now, but maybe later down the road. I remember someone I worked with in the restaurant field afew years ago said she grew up on a farm, and once she moved out for about 20 years she did nothing but horse training for shows and races, and really loved it, said it was peaceful maybe thats what I need. :)

The horses looks really great in their pictures. I could only say one word to them "AWESOME". Anyway, how do you get the horse calm down when you want to take a still photo of it? Willow's horse has really a good posture, its like the horse knows he will be posted in this forum.:D

Thank you for the compliment *bowing*
He was glad that I didn't make him go forward anymore until I figured " this would be a decent posture".:D And he was worked before the photo session.
He doesn't stand "correctly" though, but he saw something in the field and so he looks more alert than bored.
How does one get them to stand "nice"? With patience, look and feeling. One can train horses to take a certain posture, but I know from a very good photographer, that horse pictures are one of the most difficult to make cause of the impressions horses display. I believe I made only 4 or 5 in my life, which could withstand a profi's critism.

Willow your pics look great! Actually they all do!

I do know a little about taking pictures of Arabians. Which of course is not easy. Not only do you have to worry about the foot placement but the neck has to be just right, the ears forward and it's considered an insult to photograph an Arabian with their tail down. Add in their high-strung nature and you can see the problem. But here's a few tricks I use:

1. Get a helper to place the feet...you must be able to see all 4 legs from the side..Arabians are trained to stand square so they tend not to like their front feet uneven.

2. Have your helper hold up a strange object or toy just beyond the camera...nothing too scary..just enough to get her attention and prick those ears forward, widen the eyes and flare the nostrils.

3. Be sure to have some vaseline handy...put some around the eyes, muzzle and nostrils....and...ah..I know this sounds gross but a litte on the shall we say bottom hole will cause your girl or guy to keep that tail lifted.:eek:
