It never ceases to amaze me how some horses are flighty some mornings despite the weather being beautiful, and then around midday a storm comes in or the wind picks up. Its almost like they can forecast the weather...

Horses can sense barometric pressure changes that we as humans can't. They really do know that bad weather is coming. I remember reading the little house on the prairie and they used to forecast the weather by the way the animals were reacting. We seem to have lost that ability.

I've seen this many times in horses and other animals, as well. Animals are much more sensitive to atmospheric changes than human beings are. With so many scientific discoveries and advances these days, I think many people have forgotten about the "old" methods of weather prediction...lol.
The closest I can get to that, is my knee tells me when it is going to rain. I think its awesome horses can do that, we should just ditch the weathermen and use horses instead!

rdez- I am the same way. I had ankle surgery and have a pin in my ankle and can tell the change of weather about a day before it happens.
As far as horses I have noticed that the horses I have had know what is going on. It is interesting to watch.

Yes horses, and in fact, many other animals can sense impending changes in the weather long before, and better than us humans can. There are many oldtimers sayings about animal behaviours predicting weather.
