I bought Bonnie at an auction because I felt sorry for her. She spent 5 years on my ranch until a good friend begged me to sell Bonnie to her. She died a few years later on my friend's ranch in Colorado.

I sure hope the rainbow bridge is being good to her. She deserves it.

It's unfortunate that things like this happen - especially when you bond with animals - it seems to hurt a lot more because they can't tell you really what's wrong.

Sorry to hear about Bonnie :( Do you have any pictures of her you could share with us?

Aw, I'm sorry! I don't like to see any animals go. It's just like losing a close friend or family member. I hope that all goes well with your other horses for a long perid of time. It really makes me sad seeing animals being abused or dieing.

My condolence for the loss of your horse.

If I may so speak freely, I think you have less hurt than the current owner of Bonnie when she died. I mean you have accepted already that she belongs to someone else already when you sold her to your friend. But even if like that, the connection and the memories are still there. Its really hard time for people when someone or something that is close to them rested already.

Anyway, I got this thinking. What does hurt more, your horse dying of age or dying of accident? For me, I would be more hurt when my horse will die of accident because its a sudden event. Unlike when my horse die of age, I have prepared myself to accept that my horse will die sooner or later.

I wish Bonnie just died from old age. Because of her age she came down with a bad case of colic. As an owner of an animal you have to make the big decision and that is the hardest. How long do you let an animal suffer? There was no hope for Bonnie, but it is a hard decision (that I didn't have to personally make). I have yet to have an animal, either dog, cat, or horse that just dies in their sleep. I hate making the decision and usually have to go through a long remorseful period.

Somehow I missed this topic before. Anyway, I am very sorry to hear about Bonnie dying :(
