Help with making horse look "pretty"
As I posted in another thread, I've been asked to ride one of my horses in a couple of upcoming parades. I'm going to give the 4th of July parade a try to see how it goes. I'd like to dress up the horse's mane and maybe tail a bit with red, white and blue ribbons or something. Is there anywhere online that tells you how to do this? Or is it just like people hair?

I'm sure there is a resource somewhere you can access online if you really think you need the ideas.
But how hard can it be? I think some ribbons in the mane would be beautiful and once you get started it will probably turn out nicely. |

I would think that things wouldn't have to be very different with horses. I think that some red, white, and blue ribbons tied on would look beautiful. You could even paint some bells red, white, and blue and attach them.
Also don't forget that what the rider wears is important too. ![]() |

Braiding horse hair is definitely not a bit different. For parades it is common to make a running braid (its like a french braid) with ribbons threaded in or flowers and bows. Little braids can also be done and tied with ribbons. The same can be done with the tail in a more regular french braid. Stars might be appropriate given the holiday or even glitter on the coat/hooves in red or blue.

Neglected to thank you guys
We ended up riding in the parade and she looked great. I only did the mane as she got rather testy when I tried to do her tail. I did the running french braid down the mane and then tucked in babies breath and tied on some red, white and blue bows. She was a huge hit and you should have seen her prance! What a ham.
