Horse Supplements

Do you give your horse supplements? A couple friends of mine have recently started giving supplements to their horses. We take supplements, so why not give them to horses as well?

I've never heard of horses getting supplements.

Do you mean herbals or vitamins? My girl gets a salt lick that is rich in minerals that are lacking in the diet. I did recently hear about a horse vet who is a naturopath, so I saved her name for next time I need a vet. I see a naturopath myself, so why not my horse?

My friend uses a powder that she adds to her horse's food (a 1/2 scoop daily). This particular powder has vitamins and minerals in it. I think she orders it off the internet somewhere, but it is vet recommended.
I have heard of the salt licks, as well.

Yes, our stable regularly supplements our horses when they think that there is cause. Cause would include things like bad weather and so on reducing grazing ability.
