Horse-Sitter?

When you go out of town for vacation do you get a horse sitter if you don't board at a barn where they take care of your horse?

My best friend always cares for my horses when I am out of town. We spend a lot of time riding together and my horses know here and she is familiar with their routine. On the rare occasions when we travel together, I leave them at a nearby boarding stable.

We've not had this situation yet. My horse was boarded at a local stable till recently and now lives with my sister. When she went on vacation, I went and stayed at their house. Time will come I'm sure though.

When I first saw this topic it looked a little weird, but now I see what you mean. Are there specialist boarding places then, similar to those that take cats and dogs?

I know a couple of the local pet sitter/house sitters specialize in equines. They work at our local equine hospital and are bonded as well. I don't think I normally see barns advertise for short term boarding like they do with dogs.
