Horse movies?

Simple enough. Name your all time favorite horse movies. Movies that made you want to own horses, or made you appreciate them more.

Horse Whisperer is high on my list. Might seem cliched, but I really loved that movie. Made me want to have that job.

Hidalgo is also a great horse movie.

Well now - anyone remember Flicker?

Then, of course, there was the famous Mr Ed from the 60s tv show! I believe Mr Ed was a palomino (real name Bamboo Harvester). Can't imagine what today's tv generation would make of him (although am sure the little 'uns would love him just the same)

Remember Flicka? I LOVE Flicka! I loved the book, I love the movie, obviously, LOL!!! All time favorite.

I loved the Black Beauty books, not sure about the movie though.

That topic seemed to die fast. Okay then. How about books? What's your favorite book about horses, starring horses, having horses in it?

For me, definitely The Horse and his Boy (from the Chronicles of Narnia). Not exactly a real earth horse, but still a good story.

My all time favorite is still the black stallion. I loved Black Beauty too. I liked Dreamer and Flicka too though, but not as much. I tend to enjoy older movies where the acting was more important than the editing.

I have to admit my favorite was an animated one.

Not to mention my son absolutely adores the movie. It's Spirit. I thought it was as real as it gets even if was a cartoon!

My daughter loved 'The Little White Horse' by Elizabeth Goudge. The book is aimed at age 9+ and it was around then my daughter developed her desire for a horse - although it's only now that she's 28 that she's about to be granted her wish.

She said she loved the book, it had a great plot and was romantic and scary in parts with a feisty heroine.

Although I'll watch or read about anything with a horse in it. Especially when I haven't gone riding in awhile.

Black beauty was my favourite horse book when growing up. I had a hardback collection, dozens of tales it seems from my memory but the truth of it might be that it was just two or three-you know how childhood memory plays tricks on you!

ETA; And see it must have, because I just looked and it was basically just one life story! I guess it was my perception of the various chapters.

Anytime I think of a horse movie or show it always reminds me of John Wayne, I don't remember most movies I watch either which doesn't help me here. I am just a big movie freak to start with, so if its good I will watch it but my memory is bad like that.
