Heated or unheated barn?

Which is better? Would a horse be content in an unheated barn or should a person invest in a heatng system? If the barn is heated, do they get the right amount of winter fur that's needed to keep them warm in the fields?

I dont know of any that are heated, I think many people worry something like that, esp. if not proper installed it could catch on fire. I always worry about things of that nature, I have been in a house fire, and its a scary thing to deal with.

We live in the mild NorthWest. It rarely gets too cold. The horses are fine. The only reason I can think to heat the barn is for me. I am a wimp in the cold.

That makes me wonder, should a barn have A/C in the summer to keep the horse cool so it doesnt dehydrate or anything, even if there is plenty of water around?

Could be either

I live in New England and have seen both heated and unheated barns but mostly unheated. Most of the barns were very well insulated and well sealed so that it stayed reasonably comfortable just from the animal's natural body heat. By reasonably comfortable, I'm talking 50 to 60 degrees. The only people I've known with heated barns had only one or two animals so maybe they needed the heat more.

I don't have a heated barn but it is warm in the winter. They have their nice warm blankets and their winter fur so they are all right. In the summer I do have air conditioners because summers in my area are HOT
