have you ever rode a Horse-drawn carriage before?

The thread started by Hudsons Bolt about a Horse-drawn carriage has got me thinking. How many of us have rode on or drove a Horse-drawn carriage before!

Unfortunately, I have never had a chance to do either. Hopefully I will get a chance sometime soon!

I've ridden in one, it was fun the way riding a gocart is fun. I'd have much preferred to be riding the horse though.

I wrote one a few times, and i'd definitely try it more again. Definitely better for the environment than cars!

We'd probably be better if we went back to riding horses or carriages everywhere.

Gas is polluting the heck out of the planet

Turbo Stallion brings up some very good points. Horse riding and walking were good enough for our ancestors, so why not us?

What advantages do cars truly offer besides speed?

It's really not worth it at all, and look at the problems with the environment

Automobiles offer convenience. The speed they allow has brought the country together. They allow the transportation of goods that wouldn’t survive the trip if made using horses. Additionally they offer better protection from the weather. But I do agree that horses are much better for the environment than cars and trucks. And often offer a much pleasanter experience.

I used to visit Charleston, SC a good bit, and would ride the carriages there a lot.

I did when I was younger. I haven't done it in a long time, it has never come to thought. I might try it again sometime.

I understand the whole speed and weather protection thing, but it still isn't worth it imho

At least not to the heavy extent we use cars today. For a short trip, why not use a horse or bike?

Heck, even walking.
