Has anybody broken a bone because of a horse?

Horses are dangerous animals. I have fallen off a horse and broken my arm and wrist. My wife fell of a horse and broke her leg. I have seen many people get hauled away with broken bones. Just curious if anybody else has had the misfortune of spending some time in a hospital because of a horse.

I broke my wrist when I was leading my beauty. Something spooked her and she kind of took off, and I got jerked. Must have just twisted my wrist wrong, and something went pop!

I was in grade school, we were going on a field trip, the first time I would have been able to ride w/o anyone else's help (ie: no adult guide). I ended up getting out of my friends mothers car, and she didn't have the car in park, so the car drifted and ran over my foot. My trip was cut short on account of going to the hospital from the place where we were to ride the horse. No real damage, it kind of caught my foot at ad odd angle and tweaked it, to have sprained and not broke.

Horse related kind of, but I was really looking forward to the trip, and I never had my chance to go back the next year, as after that, my school decided it was a no no.

Sorry that you didn't even get the chance then to get injured by the horse! That was a really silly thing on the part of that mother. I can see why the school would stop it next year-horse riding is kind of high risk for the insurance that a school carries.

Not really. From what I see, most schools have permission slips, and on them it says that the parent agrees that the school is only to provide basic supervision and are not responsible for any more.

*knocks on wood* I've never broken anything from falling, and I've been through my share of spills. Lots of bruises though and a couple ripped breeches. I too have seen some bad falls though and always take it a bit more carefully after seeing one.
