First Aid Kit

I would say my essential equipment is my first aid kit. I have a box that I take with me in the trailer that contains leg wraps, cotton pads, scissors, antibiotic. All sorts of stuff to handle cuts and scrapes that a horse could have. I also have two big tubes about 3/4" across. Horses have a habit of smell a rattle snake and getting bit. Before their nose swells up I can stick the tubes in the nose and allow the horse to breath. Everyone knows that horses can't breath through the mouth.

I also carry an Easyboot on my saddle or trailer when out trail riding. If your horse throws a shoe they can get a stone bruise and be out of action for a long time. They can also get you back when you're a long way from your trailer.
