Eight Belles

I didn't know where else to put this. It's just so sad. I wonder just how much pain she was in at the end. Or was she so full of adrenaline that she didn't feel a thing? Either way, RIP little filly.

I would think she probably had quite a bit of adrenaline in her system and she was euthanized quickly to not prolong the pain from what I've read (and I've read alot in the past few days). I think its a shame it happened to her after such a great race.

While it is sad for sure, I want to know how broke both front ankles happens, doesn't that seem a little odd to everyone or is it just me?

Yes it's an unusual injury to get both front ankles, but horses can do a lot of damage to themselves while running. Some have even dislocated their spines.

That really is a terrible thing to happen! I'm sure all horse owners could relate, they become a part of you almost.

Such beautiful and gentle creatures, why do they have to go through so much pain sometimes?

That was a terrible story, and I think I saw it on the news as well

Really such a sad thing to have happened, and it even depresses me a little when I think about it.

Rest in peace Eight Belles
