Diabetic

I don't think this has been mentioned before, if it has I'm sorry its late and I'm sick. Can a horse become diabetic? I wondered it while just finished watching Black Beauty and right now the past few weeks my toe has been acting up, so my own doctor wants to give me a diabetes test, I figure if we can get it, can they?

I know dogs can become diabetic, and frequently do in their old age, so I don't see why not. I've never really heard of a diabetic horse, but that doesn't mean they might not exist.

I have read a little about this. As its well known in the human world it wasn't for the longest time in the horse world. It does exist and I'm sure someone more experienced could tell more about it as that part I am not sure of.
