Breeding for color
For certain breeds, like paints, a lot of focus is put on the colour of the animals. Do you think this detracts from their conformation, or that perhaps rarer colors get sidelined and produce horses of less quality?

Backyard breeders only breed for color not conformation or character. A true breeder understands a horse's worth is in their conformation, color, performance at a rated show, and their personality. Since obviously horses without a show record usually end up being worth less there is a decent balance of color and other characteristics in most breeds although plenty of idiots breed their knock kneed, cow hocked stallion "becuz he be purty" as well.
