Christmas Presents for Horses
So, does anyone here give their horse something special on Christmas day? Is their a special treat they get to eat or do you buy them a present such as some new equipment?

I know some that will go ahead and replace anything the horse may have damaged/worn down during the past year during December - blankets, extra shoes, saddles and so on. I never think you should forget your animals during the holidays. Any holiday I spend, my animals spend with me not at the dinner table or anything but they get their own goodies too.

We always give treats, either bought or baked ourselves. They also normally get some type of tack item that isn't necessary:a prettier blanket, a fancy saddlepad, a new halter. We always replace things that need it and check for wear every season. But just like kids don't like clothes for presents we don't like buying necessities for the horses.

I'm just thinking, why should we wait to give them these wonderful things on Christmas when we can give it to them any day? I have this kind of attitude because we never know what will happen in the future and your horse (God forbid) might not reach Christmas day.
