Big Brown
Has anyone been following the Derby? It seems Big Brown had a crazy abscess in the hoof, been repaired and now working to get back into the game. I would love to know how an abscess isn't a big deal.

Isn't that dangerous for the horse?
I thought there is a certain period of recovery time to allow the abscess to fully heal? I should think it would be very risky, not to mention painful for the horse to race in that condition. It certainly isn't very helpful for his odds on winning any prizes.

I think the health of Big Brown is much more important than winning stupid prizes!
Horses are living and breathing creatures, not just something for idiotic people to kick around for their personal gain! If Big Brown is not well enough for the race, they better darn well call it off! |

I'd imagine the media attention as well as vetting would prevent them from running him to some degree. You can't run a horse, win or not, and have the public be happy for you if he was obviously in pain the whole time.
On a side note, the poor thing with such an unimaginative name. ![]() |
