Carriage horses

Does anyone know how much training is involved in doing this yourself or is it better to send your horse to a professional trainer. We have a friend that has her own but wants to have a carriage pulled for her wedding day and we are not sure if her horses are up to the task or not.

Training a horse to pull is just as easy/hard as anything else. It requires a bit more equipment than most other things though. If she wants both horses to pull she is way better off having a professional come in and judge if they are well matched or it could end with the carriage going crooked or what not. If she's not dead set on the carriage being pulled by her own horses it would probably be cheaper to have a hired pair (plus carriage and driver) which would come beautifully groomed and decked out.

I had thought about if the horses would get along as well and be able to work together. Everyone wants a special day like that goes off without a hitch and having two horses that don't want to be the follower might upset the ceremony.

I agree alexis. Considering this is a very important day it might be the best bet to hire a driver with horses and a carriage and have them do it. By the time you'd paid for the time being put in to have her own horses trained and rented a carriage (if she doesn't already own one), it will most likely be more expensive than just hiring them straight out. Also, for such a special day, I would want the peace of mind knowing that those horses were properly experienced in doing this and that everything was going to go smoothly.
