Cold?

It's pretty cold still where I am, with the day time high yesterday reaching about 37 degrees. When I was out shopping I saw an SUV pull in, pulling a horse box. They stopped, took the horse out, turned her around full circle and put her back in.

But it occurred to me-would the horse be cold in there? She had on no blanket, and it was really cold. Are the boxes heated?

It depends on what you're used to for cold. 37 is a balmy day where I am. Our winter has been closer to 10-15 max here. Remember too, that horses have thick skin, and a winter coat to keep them warm. I would think, if the trip isn't really long, the unheated box would be fine.

It's cold here too, winter averages are usually around 10 farenheit for a good solid 2 months. I try to avoid using the trailer in that time, but when I do, it's no problem to throw on a blanket. We don't shorn their hair, so they have a good winter coat.

You guys really makes me envious, change the 37 degrees Fahrenheit into Celsius and that is our temperature here! I wish traveling is cheap and easy!

Back to horses, I guess the owner knows how he's horse doing. Too much cold would also freeze the horse to death.
