Barbaro's Final Resting Place Announced
January 29th, a year to the day after Barbaro's passing, his owners announced his final resting place. Barbaro will be put to rest at Churchill Downs. In 2009 a larger than life bronze statue will be unveiled. Until then a bronze plaque will mark the spot for those wishing to pay their respects.
I'm glad he'll finally have somewhere people can visit. Its so sad and perhaps his shadow will remind those still racing to take care of their horses as Barbaro was. |

I hadn't heard this, so thanks for informing everyone.
Barbaro was a great horse, no doubt. It was such a sad story as everyone was so hopeful that things would turn out ok. It's nice to see he will be honored in such a nice way. |

I think its great they bury some of the greats at the track instead of some random field where people can't visit them. So many people connected with Barbaro's story it will be nice for them to go to the Downs and see the memorial.
