Any good books regarding Horses?

What I am looking for are some good books regarding Horse breeds, and/or training. A friend of mine is looking to get a Horse, and he wants some resource books. Could you suggest to me any good ones for him to check out?

Thanks in advance

Centered Riding by Sally Swift. I don't think I could have survived without her insights. I hear the second one is good as well, but I haven't bought it yet. Still waiting to get back riding and then I'll pick it up.

I also had a couple by Linda Tellington Jones explaining the TTouch and TTeam training methods for your horse. I went to a weekend seminar for TTouch and was hooked. And it compliments the Centered Riding approach I was already using at the time.

I also had a pocket guide to horse breeds by one of the "guide book" companies which had most of the breeds at the time. I'm not sure any book can list every breed in existence, as some are quite rare and might not warrant listing in some publisher's eyes.

Alright, thanks for the help cherokeemyluv!

I am going to do some Amazon and Google searches for those books, and see if I can find some decent prices. Also I was planning to visit the local bookstore today anyway, so i'll check there as well. But those books should do nicely I think

Most libraries have a decent selection of riding how to and breed guides/general horse knowledge books in the non fiction sections. Don't be afraid to go into the children's non fiction, the books are written for kids but are often just as informative and less boring.

One series of books that I always follow / look for any subject of the manner would be the Dummies books. Check out Horses for Dummies.
