Adequate Pasture

I am blessed with only about two acres of land and it is very low lying. My gut tells me the pasture is too damp to properly support keeping a horse. My neighbor stores hay in one corner of my property and last spring his old tractor sank up to the axles. Couldn't even winch it out. One of the farmers with a huge New Holland with balloon tires had to go in there and fish him out. In the spring here you can literally dig a well with a shovel because you only have to go down a couple of feet. We are planning to eventually move. Anyone here able to tell me what is the minimum ideal pasture for maintaining a healthy horse?

I would say you need a minimum of 50 acres. Hopefully, that would provide enough room for your horse to roam around and also enough grass to feed on.

The minimum is about 1-2 acres per horse, ideally more if the pasture isn't very good quality. I'd aim for about 3-5 acres per horse. Your land sounds too wet for a horse. I'd suggest waiting until you have a better acreage.
